Come on in… the water’s RICH!
Did you know that there are no straight lines in the universe? (Note: we checked with the universe, but all we got back was a smirk and a wink, so we’re going with yes.) None! Don’t believe us? Try making a plan with no wiggle room and watch as those obstacles come rolling down the mountain!
Those of us who’ve learned this lesson (usually the hard way!) now know that life’s more of a winding river than a straight line; complete with raging rapids, smooth sailing and even the occasional waterfall (or two) to show us what we’re really made of. With every twist and turn, we get little glimpses of what’s coming our way, with every obstacle or opportunity we meet, there’s comfort in knowing that, no matter how good or bad it gets, the current will always keep us moving forward.
So here it is: Focus on opportunities and tune out the obstacles. In fact, let’s take the word obstacle out of your vocabulary! Pick it up by its squirmy little britches and drop kick it out the nearest window. Once he’s road pancake you can make room for your new best friend— opportunity. From here on out, every boulder that comes down the mountain, every time life comes out a-swingin’ it’s just opportunity knocking at your door, reminding you of everything you’re capable of.
If we know the river of life is where it’s at, you have one thing to ask yourself: what are you still doing standing on the sidelines? Get in there! You’ll be surprised how quickly the current can pull you toward all the success and opportunity that’s waiting for you downriver that you would never have known was there if you hadn’t jumped in.
Expect to succeed.
Be confident, and get in the game with whatever you’ve got.
The next time life throws an opportunity in your way (see what we did there?), take a breath and remember that the key is to tweak your mindset from “It won’t work” to “I sure hope this works” to “OF COURSE THIS WILL WORK!”
And in the worst of cases, as Harv always says, “Action always beats inaction,” and he tends to know what he’s talking about … so JUMP IN!!!
Happy Paddling!
